What Christmas Means to Me?

Christmas is here. Christmas decorations are decorated now in every house. Delicious foods are made. We children are very excited to receive some gifts from our parents or uncles or aunts. So, what Christmas truly means?

For me, Christmas is loving and giving. It’s a joyful time of the year. We bond with our friends and family, so much joy going on. When I think about Christmas, I think of good times. We are sharing and having nice time and loving each other with family and friends. We can get a lot of presents from our ninongs and ninangs. But aside from this, most of all Christmas is all about Jesus. This reminds us the story about Mary who gave birth to baby Jesus in the manger in Bethlehem. Here in the Philippines, every Christmas, many children will be caroling in every houses singing Christmas songs. Every dawn in the morning, we use to go to church to attend mass which we called Simbang Gabi. And every midnight before December 25, we have the Noche Buena with family and friends and eat delicious foods made by our mothers or grandmothers.

Christmas is not only about giving and receiving presents. It’s about Jesus’ birthday. It’s okay for me if I didn’t get any presents. All I want is bond with my whole family and friends and I pray to God that we will have good health and long life. During Christmas, no matter how poor or rich you are, even if we didn’t get any presents or we can’t eat delicious foods, the important thing is, we should smile and be happy with our love ones and enjoy together celebrating Jesus’ birthday. Even though we can’t experience the white Christmas, we still enjoy our Christmas here in our country.
